Spring Inspires Me

Officially Spring starts next week.  But, I’ve been feeling the Spring time weather here in southern Missouri (with nice weather in the 80′s!), so to me, Spring is already here.

I have always found Spring time very inspiring.  There’s something special about the trees and flowers blooming. Personally, I tend to thrive in the Spring/Summer months.  It seems that perhaps my creativity kicks in even more when warm weather hits.

I guess I’m also inspired by spring colors. I’ve always loved the bright colors of pink, yellow, green, blue, etc. The brighter, the better! So, I only felt that it was appropriate to make sure my shop reflects my love for spring.

Here’s some proof of that!

This is my newest hair clip called “Spring Dots Flower Hair Clip”.   The colors are so bright and work well with each other. I think it would make a really cute hair accessory for a young girl who loves colorful things.

A close up view of the flower!

Now moving on to another spring inspired hair clip.

This one is called Sunshine Yellow Flower Hair Clip.  It’s very bright and I think the turquoise rhinestone in the center really helps contrast the yellow.

You can find both of these hair clips in my shop for $6.50 each.

Also, I have some Spring hair clips sets for those who love a nice bargain.

You can get this small spring Flower hair clip set for $6.00.

And you can get this Spring Daisies Flower Hair Clip set for $7.00.

I should probably also mention that I currently have a free shipping code out to celebrate the arrival of spring! So, if you don’t want to be bothered with pesky shipping costs, make sure to take advantage of this offer by putting in coupon code: SPRINGFREESHIPPING.

Materials I Love To Work With

Every “crafter” has favorite materials that they like. Mine tends to change a lot when I discover new things, but that’s part of the fun!  Here are some of my favorite materials:

Beads and charms.  My mother used to make beaded jewelry when I was younger. Now, she can’t really make them since she has cataracts in both of her eyes and can’t see well enough to put the small beads on a thin string.  I guess you could say that I’m taking over and developed my love for beaded jewelry. Of course, I put my own twist on it and add a cute charm to it.

Ribbon. I have become obsessed with ribbon. Every time I go to my local Wal-Mart I head to the craft department and get at least three spools of ribbon to add to my collection. I love making hair bows out of them.

Yellow Rhinestone Flower Hair Clip

Silk flowers. My sister-in-law was the first in the family to make flower hair clips and then I kind of took over after she started making custom painted shoes. They’re easy to work with and people like the bright colors. It’s definitely a cute spring time look!

Rhinestones. I love anything that makes something sparkle. Rhinestones tend to do the job really well without making a huge mess like loose glitter. Loose glitter tends to get everywhere and stays there no matter how much you clean it up. I learned that the hard way haha.

Organza ribbon. I just started working with this kind of ribbon after finding a tutorial to make a spiky organza hair bow.  I love how the ribbon is sheer and it makes for a very classy and shiny bow. I decided to make a hair bow of my own out of it and here’s what it looks like.

One of my favorite bows, the Hot Pink Organza Hair Bow which you can find in my etsy shop right now if you like it!

And the last thing I enjoy working with is…

Tulle. I’ve also recently discovered working with tulle. Ever since, I’ve been making my own version of a “Tutu Hair Bow”. The other week, I found sparkly tulle at Hobby Lobby so of course considering how much I love things that sparkle,  I had to get some and I’m glad I did! That kind of tulle makes for a really cute hair accessory.  I’ve made two custom bows for my nieces with the purple and pink bows:

And I made this black one to put in my etsy shop:

Here’s a better look of the glitter in that bow:

I do take custom order of the Organza Hair Bows and the Tutu Hair Bows listed above. So, if you have a daughter (sister, niece, cousin, granddaughter, etc…) that likes a specific color, please contact me at glitteringtreasuresjewelry@gmail.com and we’ll discuss the options!  I really love making those bows and I make sure each one is perfect!  If you’re on etsy, you can also contact me here.

So, what kinds of materials do you like to work with? Comment below with your picks! I would love to hear them.

New Product Showcase

I just wanted to show off some more of the “Tutu Hair Bows” that I have been making!

Sky blue. :)

Pink and green.

Lime green!

And the following two I currently have in my etsy shop right now!

Pretty in Pink.

Blue and green.

This week, I have to complete orders for two purple and pink tutu hair bows for my sister-in-law. I also have to make two organza hair bows for a friend.  It may be a busy week haha.

Keep in mind that I do make custom orders for those who like what they see, but may want their bows in a different color. Contact me and we’ll talk about it!  They are perfect gifts for girls especially those who dance. I can definitely try and match the bow to their dance outfit if possible!

This isn’t a tulle hair bow, but it is something that is now in my etsy shop. Another perfect Spring gift!  I took inspiration from my mom who loves pinning pretty things to her handbag. So I made this yellow rhinestone flower pin:

This is what it looks like on a tote bag of mine!

It’s bright, sunny, and very pretty! It also looks really nice on a cardigan or coat. I loved it so much I made a purple one for myself. :) You can find that in my etsy shop by clicking here.

Everything in my etsy shop is 10% off with coupon code: SPRINGISHERE. It’s valid until March 17th so use it before it expires!

Tomorrow, I will be posting the first Etsy Shop Spotlight! I’m pretty excited and hopefully more shop owners will want to have their shop spotlighted here as well! If you’re one of them, contact me either in the comment section or by e-mailing me at glitteringtreasuresjewelry@gmail.com

Newest Creations: The Organza Hair Bow and the Tutu Hair Bow

I just wanted to share a couple of bows that I made last night!  I did some searching on the internet for some new bow inspiration and I think I found it. :) Take a look!

This is the Organza Hair Bow. It’s made up of two different colors of organza ribbon. I didn’t have a lot of options in my “ribbon bin”, so I had to go with a red and sheer light green for the sample bow. I liked how it turned out.   I posted a photo on facebook and I already have a custom order from a friend who wants one in black and another in black and another color. I guess that’s a good start!

This is the Tutu Hair Bow! It’s probably my all-time favorite bow to make and it’s really easy. It just takes a bit of time. Again, I only had these two colors to work with at the moment: blue and light green, but seeing them together instantly reminded of Spring and Easter.  I posted this one on facebook, too, and my sister-in-law wants two of them in purple and pink for my nieces.  That put into my mind of making customs of these ones especially for the mom’s who have daughters who dance and wanting one to match their dance tutus. It’s an option that could work. We’ll see. Of course, I need a black background to photograph it so I can post it on etsy. Last night, I couldn’t find that so I had to make do.

A photo of the two bows together.

You can find these two bows in my etsy shop soon!

New Ideas

Yes, I am a ribbon fanatic nowadays.  I find it pretty exciting when I go into my local Wal-mart (it’s the best we have around here for craft items…) and I see new ribbon that I can make into bows.  I usually buy around four types, go home, and start making some hair bows.

Here is the ribbon I got yesterday. I wanted to get different colors that I didn’t have already. Well, besides the pink zebra print. I’ve already made a bow out of that, but I just love it so much that I needed more of it. :) Who doesn’t like pink zebra print hair bows??

So I came up with an idea. A polka dot mini hair bow collection.

This is what I came up with.  They are about 2 inches long.  I hope to have this set in my etsy shop soon!

In other news, I managed to make a sale to someone in Arizona the other day. She found my shop through another site called GetGlue. I’m kind of obsessed with it since you can get cool stickers for checking into things. I’m also a little bit of  a sticker junkie haha. Anyways, I “checked into” etsy on there and mentioned about putting some items in my shop. She saw it and ordered something for her friend’s birthday.  At that moment, I got an idea for putting the items in a special birthday packaging that I had bought but never knew what to do with. I thought making it special to give to her friend would really help get return business (which is always important!). Here are some photos!

I’ve been thinking about doing a special free gift wrapping for those who want it. It won’t have the special birthday tin above, but I’ll definitely try and make it special for people.  All they would have to do is message me on etsy saying they want it and what colors they would like.   It’s something to think about since it just fuels my creativity. :)

As always, check out my store on etsy for some jewelry and hair accessories and “like” my facebook page! :)

Today’s New Featured Items!

These three items are found exclusively in my etsy shop! Here we go.

This set of flower headbands are very bright and colorful! Get ready for spring in these hair accessories. I think they would be perfect for any little girl who loves flowers and headbands. Get the set for 10 dollars.

After a period of not making any jewelry, I put together this pair of earrings this morning.  They meet to the top of most women’s collarbone and are very cute to wear.  I think the key charms at the end of them really makes them unique! You can find these in my etsy shop for 8 dollars.

I used my mom’s taste for earrings as inspiration for this pair.  I had a bunch of black beads left over from some other jewelry creations so when I found the green iridescent disks I knew they would look really interesting together. They turned out to be quite the classic style.  You can find these in my etsy shop for 8 dollars as well.

Keep in mind that I still have free shipping in my store! Just use coupon  code shipmefree1.  Like always, let me know what you think!

New Hair Accessories!

Who doesn’t love hair accessories? I mean, really….. :)

I think they’re a lot of fun to wear and super cute.  Not only are young girls wearing them in their hair, but you see teenage girls and young women wearing them as well! It’s a fun fashion statement that I think will never go out of style.

Here’s what I have new to offer this week in my shop!

You can get these two sets of mini hair bows for only five dollars per set! That’s a dollar per hair bow.

They are attached to a single black bobby pin. They are super comfortable and easy to wear! They also look really cute as dog hair bows…. for all of you dog lover out there haha

This headband is probably my all time favorite that I have made. I think it’s adorable. The rhinestones in the middle really stand out. The flower sits on a cotton stretch headband which is so comfortable to wear. Those headbands are my favorite things when I want my hair out of my face haha. You hardly know they are there. :)

There’s a close up view of the rhinestones in the middle! This headband is currently in my shop for seven dollars.

If any of these items listed above appeal to you, please check them out in my etsy shop. To add to the deal, I currently have free shipping until March 1st, so you should take that deal while it’s still there! Just use code: shipmefree1 during checkout!

Also, if you know of anyone who would like these items, please share! I’d appreciate it!

Making Those Fun Hair Clips

I already posted today, but my mom’s friend came back from Texas yesterday and brought me home some amazing silk flowers from Michaels (a store we don’t have around  here unfortunately), so I had to make some to show for all of you!  I’m really beginning to love making these flower hair clips. I don’t know what it is, but it’s really fun to do. It’s not that difficult and the end result is always really pretty.  So here are some photos!

Red with White Heart Flower hair bow

You can find all of these in my storenvy store and the red hairbow with the white flower, the red and pink heart hair clip and the black and white dots flower headband in my etsy store. If there’s something here that isn’t listed in my etsy store and you’re an etsy user who wants to purchase one, please comment and let me know. I’ll put it on there for you if you want! :)

I would definitely love some feedback though. Please feel free to do so in the comments section!

So Many Hair Accessories

Let me just say that I really love making hair accessories. It’s kind of become my own thing now and I love that.  A few days ago, I was in a store and saw some cute St. Patrick’s Day silk flowers and I knew I had to have them. I could already see them as hair clips in my head.  Here’s what they look like!

Side view

Side view

Those are the St. Patrick’s Day inspired hair clips that you can find in either my etsy or my storenvy stores!  For the etsy store, you can use coupon code: VALENTINES2012 for 10% off at check out. For my storenvy store, I’m also holding a 10% discount for a limited time.. just use code: treasure12 at checkout for that one.

I also made a few hair bows but I don’t have photos for most of them. My camera isn’t cooperating very well. But I do have a cute pink and black plaid  hair bow that I just made that I love. It’s in my storenvy store at the moment (it’s easier to put things on there since there aren’t any listing fees…). Here’s a photo of that bow.

I love it so much that I’m probably going to make one for myself soon haha.   If you like it, check it out in my storenvy store. :)

Tomorrow, I’ll be talking more about my favorite supplies to use! Everyone has their favorites.
